The authorities of the Kaliningrad region included Preussisch Eylau castle in a privatization forecast plan, the head of the Property Agency, Natalia Kuznetsova, said on Tuesday at a session of the regional government.

According to Natalia Kuznetsova, 27 assets have been enlisted, including cultural heritage sites of regional significance. The latter will be put on public auction.

“One of such assets is Preussisch Eylau castle located in the town of Bagrationovsk. However, we have to conduct a repair before putting it on auction, as the Prosecutor Office demanded,” she noted.

Preussisch Eylau is one of the medieval castles of the Kaliningrad region, which was built in 1330. During the World War II, the castle was not significantly damaged, but it has never been repaired, what led to partial demolition of the roofing.
