CNPC, a Chinese company, is confident that “Power of Siberia” pipeline, intended for gas supplies from Russia's Eastern Siberia to China, will be built according to the schedule.
This is what Liu Yuezhen, a director of the CNPC's international department, told reporters in Beijing on Thursday. At the same time, he indicated that the contract stipulates the notion of a free period of natural gas supplies. It starts in May 2019 and lasts until May 2021.
As a reference, Gazprom corporation has been carrying out construction of the “Power of Siberia” pipeline with export potential of 38 bln cubic meters per year on the territory of Russia since September 2014.
At present, 115 km of pipelines have already been built, whereas the plan for 2016 is 400 km. For its part, CNPC has been constructing a pipeline on the territory of China since June 2015.
