Construction and modernization of Russian enterprises producing softwood and hardwood pulp, as well as investments in the start-up of viscose cellulose manufacture in the Russian Far East and the Krasnoyarsk region may become a primary interest of Chinese investors, as it follows from a report of the Industry and Commerce Ministry of Russia.
“These regions have an advantage of the availability of a large number of forest resources and proximity to markets in the Asia-Pacific region interested in purchase of Russian forest and paper products. It is China, South Korea and Japan that are accounted for about 99% of wood product exports by the end of 2015,” the document says quoting a statement made by director at the Ministry’s Department for Chemical Engineering, Forestry Complex, Vladimir Potapkin, on the sidelines of Russian-Chinese 2017 EXPO.
