Until 2019, the Deputy Head of the Russian Ministry of Construction, Housing and Utilities, Andrei Chibis, will represent the interests of Eastern European states at UN-habitat, the United Nations program for human settlements.

As Construction.RU was told today by the press office of the Construction Ministry, Andrei Chibis was elected a Vice-President and Rapporteur of the 26th session of the UN Council for human settlements program (UN-habitat), which is scheduled to be held from the 8th to 12th of May 2017, in the headquarters of the United Nations in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya.

Representatives of 56 member countries have gathered there to discuss and approve the UN-habitat program, as well as the implementation of a new urban development program – a roadmap for solving the problems of the human settlements development for the next 20 years.

The election of Russia’s representative testifies to the recognition by the international community of the country’s successes in the field of sustainable development of human settlements and the implementation of new urban development program adopted at Habitat III conference in Quito.
