On the 29th of March, the Russian President Vladimir Putin got to know the new international terminal of “Strigino” airport, built within the framework of preparation for the World Cup 2018.
The President inspected the ground, then the second floor of the terminal, and then he looked at the airport model.
According to the head of the “Airport of the Regions” company, Evgeny Chudnovsky, who was accompanying Mr Putin, as soon as a station on the Moscow – Nizhny Novgorod – Kazan high-speed network is constructed there, it will take 90 minutes to get from the center of the capital to the airport.
In his turn, Vladimir Putin inquired about the runways reconstruction parameters and asked whether the required roads and other infrastructure will be completed in time for the World Cup.
The Governor of Nizhny Novgorod, Valery Shantsev, promised that everything will be finished in time. After that, Mr Chudnovsky reported on the modernization of other airports in the regions where the World Cup's games will be played.
To remind you, the work at the construction site of “Strigino” international airport started in July 2014. As soon as it is completed, the airport will have an acceptance rate of 1.5m people per year.
