Russia and Iran settle their differences on thermal power plant construction

Moscow and Teheran have solved their legal differences on the granting of a $5 bln state credit, the Deputy Finance Minister of Russia, Sergey Storchak, told reporters in Washington on Monday.




According to the official, the first tranche of a loan totaling $2.2 bln will be allotted for the financing of the construction of a thermal power plant in Iran by Russian building companies and the electrification of Iranian railways by the Open Joint Stock Company Russian Railways.

As a reference, the preliminary documents, stipulating the granting of an intergovernmental export credit to Iran, were signed within the course of a visit paid by Russian President Vladimir Putin to Teheran at the end of November, 2015.
