The entity incorporates the Starobeshev and Slavyansk thermal power plants. The former operates in the sector of the Donetsk region which isn’t under the control of the Ukrainian government, RIA Novosti reported on Monday.
The Slavyansk power plant regularly grinds to a halt for the lack of coal. The facility can only process fuel from the Donetsk region and from Russia.
It should be said that “Donbassenergo” is the only power-generating enterprise in the region which isn’t controlled by the Ukrainian billionaire Rinat Akhmetov. Since March 2014, Akhmetov has made numerous statements appealing for the integrity of Ukraine.
