China offers credit for construction of Moscow–Kazan high-speed railway

China will take part in the financing of the high-speed railway connecting the Russian cities of Moscow and Kazan. Beijing plans to extend a 400 bln rouble credit line, the press office of the Russian Railways JSC told Construction.ru following a meeting of the Russian-Chinese working group on the project.




In particular, debt financing totaling 250 bln roubles will be provided for the work at the construction sites of the Moscow – Nizhniy Novgorod section, whereas 150 bln roubles will be allocated for the Nizhniy Novgorod – Kazan section by the Chinese party.

The credit is to be granted either in US dollars or in yuan. Besides this, the Chinese contribution to the SPV company, established for the Moscow – Nizhniy Novgorod section of this landmark construction, will amount to 52 bln roubles.

The building of Moscow – Kazan high-speed railway will be carried out on the principles of public-private partnership by means of concessions according to the concession legislation of Russia. Within the project, a special project company-concession owner will be established.
