The former head of “The Far East Center for Shipbuilding and Ship Repairing” JSC, Igor Borbot, has been detained in the USA. He is accused of theft on a large scale during the construction of the “Zvezda” shipbuilding complex in the Primorie region.
According to the investigation, Igor Borbot misappropriated 4 bln roubles. However, in the USA he was detained for breaching the visa regime, RIA Novosti reported.
Since September of last year, Mr. Borbot has been on the Interpol wanted list on a charge of grand fraud.
Igor Borbot is accused of committing this crime together with his accomplices – four top managers of the RDS Group of Companies, including the head of the holding, Alexey Kharis, also formed part of this criminal group.
The holding’s enterprises executed contracted works at the construction site of the “Zvezda” shipbuilding complex. In the position of the head of “The Far East Center for Shipbuilding and Ship Repairing” Mr Borbot developed a scheme of transferring funds intended for the shipyard construction to the accounts of the companies he owned.
