The 37th session of the Intergovernmental Council for Cooperation in CIS Countries Construction Activity finished in Minsk on Friday. At the session, the Federal Center for Standardization and Conformance Technical Evaluation in Construction of the Ministry of Construction of Russia was approved as the basic CIS agency providing technical regulation in the construction sector.

“The main goal of this agency is the creation of a single normative and methodological base for the Eurasian Economic Union’s countries”, the Russian Construction, Housing and Utilities Minister, Mikhail Menn, told Construction.ru.

One of the main tasks is to overcome barriers and establish a common construction market, as well as the unification of a normative base in the field of construction. This job is one of the steps towards solving the problems in the field of technical regulation, which was set for the industry during the State Council on the 17th of May”, said the Minister.

In his opinion, the Federal Center, which is under the jurisdiction of the Construction Ministry of Russia, has all the necessary means to fulfill the relative functions.

As a reminder, following the creation of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) from former USSR republics, each country received about 140 construction norms and rules and 700 standards applicable to the common system.
