A criminal case over the abuse of power and commercial bribery has been initiated against Vladivostok mayor Igor Pushkarev. He has been charged under Article 285 of the Russian Criminal Code.
The high-ranking official was detained the previous night. His city apartment, his office, and a suburban house have been searched by the police, the local media reports.
According to the available data, the head of the city is accused of illegally assisting a number of enterprises in receiving government orders, in particular Spasskcement, OJSC Vostokcement and OJSC Vladivostok Butoschebenochny Zavod.
These enterprises are being investigated as well.
