A new greenhouse complex for growing vegetables all year round will be built near the Ozerny settlement in Dukhovschina district (the Smolensk region, Russia). The total cost of the complex is about 6 bln roubles.
As Construction.RU has been told today by the regional press office, a complex with the total area of 35 hectares will implement the latest developments of greenhouse farming.
Low-volume hydroponics on special substrate with drip irrigation systems and other modern technologies will be used for growing vegetables.
The use of LED-lighting will allow to increase the yield of cucumbers and tomatoes by 30-40% and decrease the electric energy expenses almost 4 fold.
The construction of the greenhouse complex is to start in November, 2016, by the end of 2017 the ground for vegetables with the area of 16 hectares will be put in operation. The whole complex will work in 2018. More than 400 jobs will be created there for the Dukhovschina district inhabitants.
