According to the Rail, Maritime and Transport union, workers at Southern Railway are going to stage a new 48-hour strike on the 7th and 8th of September, heraldscotland.com reports on Tuesday.
The workers will protest against the changes to the role of guards, making drivers responsible for closing doors.
As a reference, Southern's services have been disrupted for months due to industrial action and personnel shortages. Workers mounted picket lines at Southern network's stations.
“We share the anger and frustration of passengers and we cannot sit back while jobs and safety are compromised on these dangerously-overcrowded trains,” said general secretary of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union, Mick Cash.
