Operatives of the Internal Security Directorate of the Federal Security Service of Russia (the USB FSB) detained a deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the “Unified Energy System” Federal Company, Valeriy Goncharov, reports Gazeta.ru.

According to the newspaper, Valeriy Goncharov is suspected in a large scale fraud committed, when the company carried out construction of an energy bridge to Crimea.

The FSB operatives detained Goncharov at the time, when he was trying to board a plane at one of the Moscow airports with the purpose to leave the country. Apart from that, the law-enforcement agents also searched an office and houses of the company’s top manager.

In February, Kommersant newspaper reported that an inspection of “SetStroyService” Group of Companies, owned by Alexander Muratkin, who led the energy bridge construction in Crimea, had been carried out.
