High-rise tower being built in Abu Dhabi caught large fire on Tuesday morning, Khaleej Times reports.
Hundreds of workers have been evacuated from the 27-storey building, located near an Abu Dhabi mall. A total number of 600 builders were working at the construction site at the moment, when the fire broke out. The fire started at around 11 am, eyewitnesses told reporters.
The investigators believe that the fire might have been caused by faulty air-conditioning.
The National.ae cites eyewitnesses as saying that the workers began evacuating when smoke started to engulf them.
“I’ve seen fires on construction sites before but nothing like this,” said Mr Marouf, who has an extensive experience of construction works in Abu Dhabi.
