Over the course of his visit to the Primorsky region, Russian President Vladimir Putin inspected the first phase of Zvezda shipyard, a large shipbuilding and engineering complex in the Russian Far East.
According to Vladimir Putin, this is the first solid step in development of civil shipbuilding in the Far East. The President emphasized that funding of Zvezda shipyard’s construction would be public.
Besides of that, Putin said that erection of that shipyard was a very metal-consuming project.
The President added that the enterprise would also provide an assistance to the Russian Navy deployed in the Far East.
A keel laying ceremony of a floating dock, which will be constructed at Zvezda shipyard, was held in the presence of Vladimir Putin. The event was also attended, among others, by Head of Rosneft, Igor Sechin, and a Deputy Defense Minister, Yury Borisov.
