Former US Ambassador to Russia, Michael McFaul, posted a tweet, in which the official was accusing Russian President Vladimir Putin in influencing the results of presidential elections in United States, RIA Novosti reports.

As a reference, US presidential elections were held on Tuesday and resulted in the victory of Republican candidate Donald Trump.

“Putin intervened in our elections and succeeded” tweeted Michael McFaul and added in Russian “Molodets”, what is translated as “Well done!”.

Later, the former US ambassador deleted that tweet. Sometime after that, Michael McFaul posted another tween regarding Russian President: “Trump said he'd meet with Putin before inauguration. Will it happen?”.

Relationship between Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin was a highlight of the presidential race in United States. While the Republican candidate never outright announced himself as “a pro-Russian,” he persistently hinted at a potential friendship between the two leaders.
