Japanese builders set to construction of the main arena by Summer Olympic Games scheduled to be held in Tokyo in 2020, the administration of the city prefecture announced.
The construction works will be carried out on the place of the national stadium demolished last year, which hosted games in 1964. It was noted that builders started the work 14 months behind the schedule. Such a delay was caused by some troubles with stadium’s project and approval of a new plan.
The Tokyo authorities believe that construction of the main sports arena of the Japanese capital city will be completed in November 2019.
As a reference, controversy erupted around Olympic stadium construction in Tokyo, when a number of Japanese architects and officials opposed an initial project due to its high cost.
