The aircraft manufacturer Boeing and the world's largest titanium producer, VSMPO-Avisma, based in Verkhnyaya Salda, signed on Wednesday an agreement to start implementation of the project for the expansion of a joint venture Ural Boeing Manufacturing into Titanium Valley special economic zone situated in the Sverdlovsk region, in Russia.
This is what the correspondent of TASS news agency reported from the signing ceremony.
As follows from the documents provided by Boeing, opening of a new production workshop is scheduled for the first quarter of 2018. It is planned that the new plant will process titanium blankings for all civil aircrafts from Boeing. Currently, a Boeing subsidiary, Commercial Airplanes, gets 35% of titanium supplied by VSMPO-Avisma.
