The Financial Committee of the UK Parliament started examination of plans for reconstruction of Westminster Palace due to fears that the funds would be spent inefficiently over the course of the repairs work.
The head of the Committee Andrew Tyrie announced that that was an extremely expensive project of restoration and has no enough grounds to be implemented, BBC reports. According to him, none of the existing reports on the building's condition contains the data allowing to make at least preliminary decision regarding repair. That is why such proposals require thorough examination and collection of additional evidence. Andrew Tyrie added that the Committee would take over that task.
