Scientists from of the Palacky University, based in the Czech Republic, are ready to conduct tests on the Russian Ural of an innovative technology of groundwater purification from the effects of exposure to heavy metals and other contaminants, using nanoscale iron.

More than 50 projects on the technology’s application have already been implemented in several European countries and in the United States, the coordinator for the transfer of technologies and materials of the Palacky University, Mikhail Kosovsky told TASS news agency following a round table held on environmental issues.

“For centuries, a large number of contaminants have been gathered on the territory of the Urals, and for us as scientists it is a challenge, because in these conditions, our technology has not been tested yet. The point is that the main ingredient is nano-iron, which we complement with the necessary reagents,” he said.
