Swedish IKEA has postponed the construction of its store in the Russian city of Voronezh for the year 2018, the head of the Department for economic development of the Voronezh region, Anatoly Bukreev, told Interfax news agency on Thursday.
“Start of the construction is postponed due to the fact that the company is adjusting its business plans. IKEA does not give up its plans, and the project will be implemented”, — the head of the Department said.
Earlier it was reported that, by the end of 2017, IKEA was planning to open a store with an area of about 44 thousand square metres and a parking lot for 1.7 million cars in Novousmansky district of the city.
Opening of the shop should be the first stage of the company development in the region. As the second stage, the IKEA is considering the construction of MEGA shopping center in Voronezh or in its neighbourhood.
