An opening ceremony of a Russian Church in the name of St Andrew The Apostle And All Russian Saints took place in the city of Episkopi in Cyprus on Sunday.
“The Church in the name of St Andrew The Apostle And All Russian Saints will become home for the Russian community of Cyprus and the city of Episcopia”, — the head of the Synodal Department for External Church Relations, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, said after the ceremony.
He noted that that was the first Russian Church on the island, though, and would be administered by the Orthodox Church of Cyprus.
“I would like to express the wish that this church, which became the first Russian church on the island, would not be the last such cathedral,” — Metropolitan Hilarion said.
