Rosatom prepares to launch fourth power unit at Tianwan NPP in China

Experts from Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation have embarked on the preparations for a launch of the fourth power unit at Tianwan nuclear power plant in China. The object has been built with the participation of the Russian Federation.




This statement was made by the press office of Rosatom’s contractor, ASE group of companies, RIA Novosti reports on Wednesday. According to the document, one of the most crucial technological stages of the power unit construction is completed at Tianwan NPP. Namely, the mounting of the main circulation line that constitutes the bulk of installation works has been carried out to completion.

The main circulation line connects the primary circuit equipment of the nuclear power unit, what includes the reactor, steam generators and main circulation pumps.

Tianwan NPP, the largest nuclear plant on mainland China, was built upon the improved Russian project NPP-91. Currently, two power units of 1000 MW each operate at the enterprise. The third and fourth units of similar capacity are under construction, their commissioning is scheduled for 2018.

At present, Russia and China are negotiating the construction of the seventh and eighth units at the Tianwan NPP.
