Electrified ring railroad to be built in capital city of Uzbekistan

In three years, an electrified ring railroad will be constructed and put into operation in Tashkent, the capital and largest city of Uzbekistan.

As local media reports today, the revised project for a ring railroad construction was approved yesterday by President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Works on the construction site will begin in the near future. A double track mainline will pass through the outside of the Tashkent Ring Road.

Builders have to construct a number of railway bridges and road junctions, hundreds of underground and overground pedestrian crossings. The ring road’s stations will be connected by pedestrian crossings with end metro stations.

A total investment in the project will reach $265 million and the funds will be allocated from the state budget and the Fund of Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan.
