Volvo Cars will release the first fully electric car in China, the company said at the Shanghai motor show.
The vehicle will be produced on the platform of SPA (Scalable Product Architecture). Sales of the car model will start in 2019 and the vehicles will be exported from China to other countries around the world.
Volvo previously announced its plans to sell up to 1 million electrified vehicles until 2025. The company also intends to introduce hybrid versions of the existing models.
China is the largest market for electric vehicles, the country has ambitious objectives to increase sales of electric and hybrid vehicles for the purpose of solving the problem of road congestion and air pollution in major cities, explains Volvo.
