International economic summit “Russia – Islamic World: KazanSummit”, which has gathered more than 2,000 guests from 50 countries, has opened in Kazan, the capital city of the Russian Republic of Tatarstan.
This event arranged by Russia and the countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) was first held in Kazan in 2009, and over the course of nine years has become the main platform for economic interaction between Russian regions and Islamic countries.
KazanSummit is aimed to develop trade, economic, scientific, technical, social and cultural relations between the Russian Federation and the OIC member states. In 2016, over 1,500 representatives of international organizations, public authorities, financial institutions, investors and businessmen from 51 countries attended the event. Within the framework of 2016 KazanSummit 15 treaties and agreements were signed.
