According to Mayor of Prague Adriana Krnachova, a working group was established to draft a new law on construction.
Experts agree with officials that the existing system of land use, planning and issuing permits for housing construction needs to be reviewed. Krnachova claims that a long process of obtaining permits is one of the main reasons why currently there are not enough vacant apartments in Prague. A small volume of supply leads to a sharp increase in house prices, Prague.tv reports.
In September 2017, the government approved basic concepts of the law, which was being elaborated by the Ministry of Regional Development. Another goal is to simplify the requirements that the developer must meet.
