In place of the “Moscow” central department store on Leninsky Avenue, a new commercial centre will be built. It will be designed for the company Optima Development in 2016 by the British design bureau Dyer, the Vice–President of Optima Development, Bulat Shakirov, told RIA Novosti. The developer will then start getting the documents ready for construction, which will take 2-3 years. The new commercial centre will have an area of 60,000 square meters. The cost of work at the construction ground will be $60 mln.
As a reminder, Optima Development is the owner of the “Moscow” department store, built in 1963 as an experimental shopping centre for implementing new trade technologies. The building of the shopping centre was designed by a development team including the architects Y. Peresvetov, B. Sobolevsky and L. Lyakhov, and the engineers R. Ratov, P, Tretyakov, E. Farmakovskaya and M. Rozhkova.
