Main construction work at a smaller ring of the Moscow Ring Railway is to be completed this December.
Vice-President of JSC “RZD” Oleg Toni told journalists about it. He said that by the end of the year operational traffic will be started. Currently, 1,500 people 250 equipment units work on the construction of the smaller ring objects. Investment volume totals 74.8 billion rubles. 50 billion rubles have already been spent.
3.5 buildings were demolished during the work at the construction sites. For the sake of ecology the ring will be electrified. 5 electric substations have been built and 4,000 contact line supports installed. The work on electrification of the ring has been completed by now. The station “Moscow-City,” built for 1.3 billion rubles, is more than 50% ready. The Smaller Ring of MRR is expected to carry 430,000 people a year.
