The first hospice for children will be built in Moscow

Moscow authorities have allowed the “Vera” charity foundation to construct Moscow’s first children’s hospice, “The Lighthouse”, in Dolgorukovskaya Street.




According to TASS, the land for the construction was allotted 2 years ago. The construction is planned to last 15 months. 2,000 square meters will be built on, including an old building constructed in 1937 which needs capital repair, re-equipping and extending. All engineering systems will meet modern requirements and have the highest standards of reliability.
Inner decoration will be carried out according to a special design taking into consideration the peculiarities of the patients. There will be 15 rooms. All rooms on the ground floor for children up to 17 years old will have their own exits. Youngsters from 17 to 25 will be catered for on the first floor. A special medical studies department will be on the second and third floors.
The infrastructure will include a swimming pool, a winter garden and special play-rooms. The first patients will be received at the special medical center at the beginning of 2017. According to expert assessment, more than 2,500 children need the help of hospices in Moscow and the Moscow region.
