President Vladimir Putin, who arrived in Crimea on the 18th of March to celebrate the second anniversary of the republic’s reunification with Russia, paid a visit to the construction site on Tuzla Island in the Azov Sea, where the Kerch Bridge’s construction is going on.

According to the news agencies, the head of the Russian Federation was talking to the builders for a long time, and during the conversation they told the President that, at present, they have 150 piles in operation. At the end of the meeting the workers asked Mr Putin to take a souvenir photo with them.

Vladimir Putin agreed, but asked Arkady Rotenberg, the owner of “Stroygazmontazh”, the general contractor for the bridge’s construction, to join in. After that, the President politely reminded him, “If anything goes wrong, we will make you answerable”.

To remind you, the total cost of the Kerch Bridge construction is estimated at 230m roubles. The object must be erected by 31st December, 2018.

The main construction and assembly work at the site started on the 18th of February, 2016, when the Directorate-General for the State Environmental Review of Russia issued a positive conclusion regarding the project.
