A branch of the Moscow zoo with an area of 500-600 hectares might be created near the administrative and business center in Kommunarka village located 4 km from the Moscow Ring Road, the head of the New Territories Development Department, Vladimir Zhidkin, told Interfax news agency on Monday.
“Recently I met with the representative of the Moscow zoo and discussed the idea of establishing a branch in the new territories. After discussion, we agreed that a branch of the zoo with an area of 500-600 hectares with elements of the Safari Park may be constructed in the vicinity of the administrative and business center in Kommunarka”, - Vladimir Zhidkin said.
He noted that the choice of location is due to the good transport accessibility of the area. “Now, two metro lines are under construction in this direction, a high-speed tram will be put in operation there, as well as a number of new convenient roads will appear. So, it will be easy to get to the new zoo,” he added.
According to him, the basic concept of the new zoo has already been developed, with the best zoo in Europe and South-East Asia taken as a model.
