A “road map” for the implementation of information modelling technologies (BIM) construction has been approved, Russian Minister of Construction, Housing and Utilities, Mikhail Menn, said at a meeting of the Ministry’s Public Council.

Mikhail Menn specified that the “road map”, prepared by the Ministry, is signed by the Vice-Premier of Russia Dmitry Kozak. The document is related to the implementation of building information modeling on all stages of the facility’s life cycle.

“BIM is a revolutionary phenomenon. Today, while implementing this map, we should understand that we are entering a new era of design” – the Minister stressed.

In October last year, the first Deputy Minister of Construction, Leonid Stavitsky, noted that the draft amendments to the city planning code in terms of the implementation of BIM technologies did not imply an immediate transition to this form of information models.
