Building information modeling (BIM) might become compulsory since the year 2019 at Russia’s construction sites commissioned by the government.
This is what the Head of Russian Ministry of Construction, Housing and Utilities, Mikhail Menn told reporters on Wednesday at PROEstate international investment forum in Moscow, our special correspondent Alexey Nevsky reports from the ground.
According to him, the Ministry will take into account interesting British experience in the field of BIM technologies implementation.
Since May, all government contracts for construction have been drafted with account of BIM technologies. The first estimates showed that this caused the 30-percent reduction of a construction cost. This isn’t experts’ forecasts, but a direct experience.
“Their experience showed that we, in Russia, are heading in a 100-percent right direction,” noted the Minister.
As a reference, building information modeling (BIM) is a process involving the generation and management of digital representations of physical and functional characteristics of places.
