The authorities of Belarus denied access for European Parliament’s delegation and opposition public activists to a construction site of the BelNPP nuclear power plant, which is currently under construction in the town of Ostrovets.
As local media reports on Thursday, the visit of European MPs was scheduled for April 20. The Belarusian Foreign Affairs Ministry released a statement saying that such trips should not be carried out spontaneously. Also, Belarus made a counter-offer to the parliamentarians from the EU.
However, the European MPs did not waited until the consultations with the Belarusian authorities on that issue were over and gave away the details of negotiations. Thus, the parliamentarians have jeopardized a constructive and reverent dialogue between the two parties.
