LafargeHolcim, a Franco-Swiss supplier of construction materials, could face sanctions after being accused of financing ISIS terrorists in Syria.

The Economy Minister of France, Michel Sapin, have called on to impose sanctions against the company.

“Any funding of this kind should be prosecuted, as well as the company’s representatives in charge of that... Making deals with terrorist groups is unacceptable,” the Minister said in an interview.

A day earlier, it became known that due to a scandal related to financing of militants in Syria, the General Director of the company, Eric Olsen, would resign on July 15 this year.

In early March, the company admitted that in 2013-2014, its subsidiary, Lafarge Cement Syria, was forced to pay to militants from banned terrorist organizations, including ISIS and the Syrian branch of Al-Qaeda.
