Russia to establish industrial zone in Egypt by autumn

Egypt’s Minister of Industry and Trade Tarek Kabil is expected to arrive in Moscow during this month with a project of an intergovernmental agreement on the establishment of a Russian industrial zone in Egypt, his Russian counterpart, Denis Manturov, told reporters on Wednesday.




According to him, after all documents are approved, the final signing could take place by autumn.

“Just yesterday, I spoke with Minister of Industry and Trade of Egypt Tarek Kabil, who confirmed the willingness and interest in the completion of inter-state procedures in Egypt, which envisage the coordination between agencies and directly with Port Said in terms of normative acts in Egypt, which will allow to motivate Russian and Czech companies to become residents of this industrial zone”, Denis Manturov said.

As a reference, in February 2016, Russia and Egypt signed a protocol on establishing a Russian industrial zone in Port Said intended for localization of production of Russian companies in the field of heavy automotive industry, petrochemicals, energy, medicine, building materials.
