The German companies MAN Truck & Bus and Schaeffler have come up with an initiative to set up a joint production on the premises of Russian automaker GAZ in Russia, trade representative of Russia in Germany, Yuriy Stetsenko, told Rambler News on Monday.
“In May 2017, Governor of Nizhny Novgorod region (Russia) Valery Shantsev, together with the management of GAZ Group, arrived in Bavaria with an official visit. Of course, the negotiations regarding car-making were held. As a result, the German companies MAN Truck & Bus AG and Schaeffler AG have proposed to create a joint production on the premises of GAS”, Stetsenko said.
According to the trade representative, the next phase of talks is scheduled to be held in June in the Russian city of Nizhny Novgorod.
MAN Truck & Bus is a manufacturer of MAN, ERF and Star trucks, as well as Neoplan buses. Schaeffler is one of the world’s leaders in the production of bearings, and also produces clutch system, gearboxes and torsional vibration dampers.
