Uzbekistan Peugeot Citroen Automotive (UzPCA) joint enterprise established by the French PSA Peugeot Citroen and JSC Uzavtoprom began on Thursday the construction of a plant producing minibuses in the Jizzakh region, the Republic of Uzbekistan.




This was reported today by RIA Novosti with a reference to a representative of Uzavtoprom.

“Today a ceremony for laying a symbolic capsule was held at a construction site in connection with the start of construction of the French PSA Peugeot Citroen automobile plant,” the agency’s interlocutor said.

The facility will be located in the territory of Dzhizak free economic zone. The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Vice Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Chairman of JSC Uzavtoprom, Ulugbek Rozukulov, and Vice-President of PSA Peugeot Citroen Christophe Bergeron.

In mid-May, PSA and JSC Uzavtoprom signed an agreement to establish a joint venture UzPCA on a parity basis with a charter capital of €29.3 million. In accordance with the agreement, the JV will build a plant for the manufacture of light commercial vehicles in the Jizzakh region with a value of €133,3 million.
