The length of a new undersea tunnel in China amounts to nearly seven kilometers, with the depth of 40 meters below the seabed.
Thus, the way from Hong Kong via Macau to Zhuhai will soon be reduced from three hours to 30 minutes. This was made possible thanks to the creation of the world’s longest and deepest underwater road tunnel, according to the TV channel CCTV.
Despite the scale of the project, it was only part of an integrated transport hub, which includes a bridge with the length of 22.9 kilometers and two artificial islands. The construction was carried out by the municipalities of the city of Zhuhai in Guangdong province and the special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau.
