At present, the bridge spans through the Kerch Canal are being mounted on the Taman Peninsula, the press office of the Federal Road Agency of Russia told Construction.RU on Thursday.
The assembly work and mounting of the first superstructure for the bridge’s poles on the land segment – in the area of lake.
A total number of 287 bridge spans will be constructed for a highway and 306 – for a railway. Soon the builders will start similar works on the island of Tuzla.
Once the work is completed, the road building will begin.
“When the bridge construction crew finishes poles erection, it proceeds to mounting of bridge spans for these poles. Such scheme ensures high and uninterrupted rate of construction”, - said head of Taman branch of the Taman Federal Highway Directorate, Luarsab Tsybulkin.
As the chief engineer of the bridge construction crew, Oleg Romensky, put it, the highway bridge span represents four main bulks, horizontally connected, as well as bulks mounted directly between the poles and the span structure. The total weight of the structure is 160 tons”.
