Surprises at 2017 MosBuild exhibition in Moscow

Today, the international exhibition of construction and finishing materials 2017 MosBuild / WorldBuildMoscow opened in Expo Center, an exhibition center in the Russian capital city.

As our special correspondent Sofia Orlova reports from the ground, this year the total exhibition area has exceeded 80,000 square meters. Vendors from 40 countries presented a wide range of building and finishing materials at the exhibition.

A total number of more than 1,200 Russian and foreign manufacturers take part in 2017 MosBuild. As the event’s organizers noted, this year, 500 companies participate in the exhibition for the first time: 200 of them represent the segment of building materials, 200 companies are engaged in the production of finishing materials and 100 companies – in plumbing.

Traditionally, the exhibition started with an opening ceremony, which was attended by honorary guests. These are Vice-President of the Russian Builders Union, Oleg Basin, the Union’s Executive Director, Vyacheslav Sakhno, Honorary President of the Russian Union of Architects, Andrey Bokov, Chairman of Committee at Commerce and Industry Chamber of the Russian Federation for entrepreneurship in construction, Yefim Basin, Deputy Director General of Expo Center, Mikhail Tolkachev, Chief Executive Director at ITE state company, Mark Shashoua, Director General at ITE EXPO, Alexander Shtalenkov.

In his speech, Yefim Basin noted that Russia’s construction industry was experiencing difficult times, decreasing investment, and, along with that, a decline in the volume of construction activities, as well as reduced production of basic building materials. He stressed that, like never before, the country desperately needed import substitution and production of competitive quality products. It was materials and technologies presented at the exhibition that would help the industry to cope with the problem, Yefim Basin added.

Also, within the framework of the official ceremony, there was the awarding of winners of DIY Advice Russia TOP and DIY Retail Russia TOP, which were arranged by specialists of INFOLine jointly with MosBuild’s organizers. This year, more than 100 companies have applied to participate in the contest. Among the jury members, there were representatives from retail chains specializing in the sale of building materials.

The winners in different categories include such companies as Knauf Insulation, Bosch and others.

Director General of Construction.RU online journal, Alexander Gusev, presented an award to one of the winners – TechnoNICOL Corporation.
