The major orthodox cathedral in the Northern Caucasus, located in the city of Nalchik, will be put into operation by Easter.

The Cathedral of Saint and Equal-to-the-Apostles Mary Magdalene has been under construction in Nalchik for 10 years, the regional press office told Construction.ru.

The object’s construction began in 2004, and since 2009 it has been frozen.

The whole building will occupy an area of over 3,000 m2. The interior and outside finishing, roofing, facade and painting works are being completed, as is the development and landscape gardening of the neighbouring area.

Video surveillance and fire and security alarm systems will be installed in the cathedral.

As a reminder, the main Orthodox Christian holiday, Easter, falls this year on the 1st of May.
