The Emirate of Dubai, in the UAE, plans to build a tourist resort at a cost of 6,3 billion dirhams ($1,72 billion) on two artificial islands near the Burj al-Arab hotel, Reuters reports.

A total area of the resort under the name of Marsa Al Arab amounts to around 37 hectares. The construction activities will begin in June and are planned to be completed by the end of 2020. Artificial islands will extend the Dubai shoreline by 2.2 kilometers.

One of the islands is intended to provide services of entertainment and family tourism, while on the other 140 villas are planned to be built. An aqua park and theatre for 1,700 people will be erected on the islands as well.
