Russia will sign a contract with Egypt for the supply of Ka-52K helicopters and ship systems for Mistral carriers, director general of Rosoboronexport, a Russia’s state agency for exports and imports of defense-related products, Alexander Mikheyev, said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
“We need to understand that the ships (Mistral helicopter carriers purchased from France) need to be additionally equipped with systems for operation of Russian helicopters. It will be a separate contract. We would like to sign it this year, but much depends on the source of funding,” Mikheyev noted.
He stressed that Mistral carriers have already become part of the Navy of Egypt, so Cairo is interested to sign a contract as quickly as possible.
