On March 19, NATO began the final part of its move to a new headquarters situated on Boulevard Leopold III in the north-east of Brussels, according to a report published on the Alliance’s official website.

The new building is going to be a key element and a strong symbol of the transformation carried out by the Alliance, the message reads. It is situated opposite the old headquarters where NATO has been operating since 1967.

“We are moving to a cutting-edge and environmentally-friendly building,” NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg noted.

The new headquarters with an area of 254,000 sqm is designed like interlocking fingers, which is meant to be a symbol of the Alliance’s unity.

A total of 4,000 people, both military staff and civilians, will move to the new building within 12 weeks.
