Investors from China has got interested in construction of a tunnel through the Kerch Strait to the Crimea, the republican Minister of Economic Development, Andrey Melnikov, told Sputnik radio station on Saturday.
According to RIA Novosti agency, the Eurasian Business Council has also come up with a proposal to build a tunnel simultaneously with the construction of the Kerch Bridge in the Crimean Republic. The tunnel construction is expected to be funded by private investors. Melnikov has specified that “an interest was shown” to the idea of building a tunnel.
“The technologies that Chinese entrepreneurs can offer, could be of quite modest costs,” Melnikov said.
He has also added that Chinese companies are already involved in construction of an airport in Crimea. The investors are primarily interested in infrastructure, because it brings opportunities for “large volumes of potential investments.”
