Scientists from the Siberian State University of Science and Technology n.a. academician M. F. Reshetnev (SibGU) have developed a unique sorbent, which allows to eliminate oil contamination of soil ten times more effectively compared to its analogs, the University’s press office reports on Friday.
One cubic meter of the sorbent absorbs one ton of oil. The oil capacity of the sorbent is 7-10 times higher than that of its analogs.
The sorbent consists of microorganisms isolated from the soil in the areas of oil pollution microorganisms, capable of decomposing oil to simple compounds that do not exhibit toxic properties. addition, the sorbent, unlike its analogs, does not need to be collected and disposed of.
