Today, Russian President Vladimir Putin has held an unplanned meeting with an initiative group in the city of Kemerovo over the deadly fire erupted in one of its major malls on Sunday.
The head of the state promised to hold all those guilty of the tragedy accountable. He also urged not to doubt the official data on the death toll in the fire and not to rely on questionable sources in social networks. Vladimir Putin has informed the group that an investigation team of a hundred specialists is working on the scene.
At a meeting with local officials, Mr. Putin called the mall blaze the outcome of criminal negligence and mismanagement. He demanded that the head of Russian Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, conducted a thorough inquiry into the tragedy, in particular, over the permits issued to the mall tenants.
